England House Bed and Breakfast
While the feel of the house is "Out West" Victorian charm, the late-1800s French antiques throughout the house will make you feel like royalty. And that is our intent as well. All you have to do is make yourselves at home. In your room you will find: fresh flowers; extra pillows; a hair dryer; an iron and ironing board; healing bath oils and Rosemary, Cedar and Thyme glycerin soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion, a radio alarm clock/CD player to create just the right ambience for the perfect bath (in Song Catcher and Star Gazer) or fireside chat (in Stone Cutter). Or perhaps you'll have a romantic "party for two" at your bistro table overlooking the rooftops (in Star Gazer and Song Catcher). To help make your stay as comfy and cozy as possible, you'll find luxurious embroidered robes in your room, great for that late-night foray to the kitchen. For our guests who need to be "in touch," high-speed wireless internet is available throughout the house. The Arizona Daily Sun is delivered to our doorstep each morning. There is nothing better than reading a small-town newspaper to truly get away, take you back and still keep you in touch with the world. Your morning coffee, afternoon tea or evening aperitif can be enjoyed in the parlor, an elegant yet comfortable "living" room boasting one of the many beautiful and historic pressed-tin ceilings in the house. Here you can snuggle into the velvet couch and be mesmerized by the fire in the volcanic rock fireplace in the foyer. Or retreat into one of the books from our eclectic library. Maybe you'll just recline in the window seat and watch the world go by. You'll not want to miss the opportunity to enjoy stargazing on the back deck. Flagstaff is the world's first International Dark Sky City, which promotes not only the work at Lowell Observatory, just up the hill from the England House Bed and Breakfast, but ensures some of the best star gazing. It is our utmost desire and intent that your stay with us be as comfortable and interesting as imaginable. ROOMS SONG CATCHER: "Delight in the 'suite' story." Perched among the treetops, with a view of Mars Hill, Song Catcher is furnished with a suite of Louis XVI French antiques. Open the windows to the fresh air and cool breezes. Sink into your comfy chair and ottoman and lose yourself in that long-awaited book. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening aperitif at your bay-window bistro table. Write your own story. (Private bath with clawfoot tub and shower; Queen-size feather bed) ($179 plus tax) STAR GAZER: "Revel in the fantasy." A bright and fanciful room, Star Gazer is furnished with a one-of-a-kind late-1800s French earring bed. You'll be transported to a land far, far away, as you nestle under the lace-bedecked bed crown. The window next to your bistro table and chairs looks out to Mars Hill and Lowell Observatory by day and the dark ,star-speckled sky by night. (Private bath with jetted tub and neo-glass and onyx walk in shower; Queen-size bed) ($189 plus tax) THE PANTRY: "Indulge in small treasures." As its name implies, this was once the pantry of the house, now a "cozy" retreat. Furnished with a "turn-of-the-century" iron bed, The Pantry is an intimate chamber off the foyer, on the ground floor. Its windows, bringing in soft, cool breezes, and pillow-top queen bed beget the respite you seek. (Private bath with neo-glass and onyx walk-in shower; Queen-size feather bed) ($129 plus tax) STONE CUTTER: "Savor the richness of past and present." From your sitting room, the porch addition to the stone house, you'll be awe-inspired by the view of the snow-covered San Francisco Peaks in winter and green treetops in summer. You'll marvel at the master craftsmen's cuts in the stone, made so long ago. This cozy room is furnished with a Hearthstone gas log stove, couch and chairs and a trundle bed nestled into its own alcove framed by deep-red, velvety, closing drapes. (Accommodates one extra adult or two children.) The bedroom is furnished with a four-piece set of Louis XV French antiques and a state-of-the-art TempurPedic queen bed. Sink into the NASA-inspired, support-you-everywhere mattress and imagine the life and times of a hundred years ago. (Private bath with walk-in shower; Queen-size Tempur-Pedic bed) ($199 plus tax and $20 each additional person)
